Rice Design Alliance From Campus to Houston and Beyond

Rice Design Alliance was established within the Rice School of Architecture in 1972 to better develop the School’s public outreach programs. Now one of the preeminent design organizations in Texas, RDA curates design lectures, tours, competitions, exhibitions, publications, and more.

If Rice Architecture is the meeting point of Rice University and architecture, then RDA is the meeting point of Rice Architecture and the community. It is a hub for architecture, design, and civic planning.

Champions worked with RDA to develop an identity system that helps visualize the multidisciplinary design network that they’ve built in Houston.

Like Rice Architecture, RDA is collaborative in nature. So, like Rice Architecture, the RDA identity system is grounded in a circular grid. The crucial differentiator is that the RDA arms extend outward to represent the RDA network of people and professions within architecture, design, and civic planning in Texas and beyond.

Working to critically explore the urban condition in Houston and beyond.
