For the June 28, 2020 issue of The New York Times Magazine, Pulitzer Prize winner, Nikole Hannah-Jones, writes an important essay making the case that the time for reparations is now. 

Design Director, Gail Bichler, asked Bobby Martin to collaborate in making a cover for the issue to convey the sentiment of the article.  To express the urgency of the essay, the title “What is Owed” was painted in large, bold yellow letters, a reference to the Black Lives Matter art recently painted throughout city streets across America.
