Justine Olivia Marks
What do you do at Champions Design?
People engage with brands in the same ways that they engage with culture. I use my knowledge and experience of popular culture and zeitgeists both past and present to better understand the world our brands live in.
What got you into this field of work?
For most of my undergraduate career I thought that my future was in journalism and academia. I studied English and Gender Studies at Mount Holyoke College, but once commencement was upon me, I wasn’t particularly interested in continuing to graduate work. I began my career in advertising, where I fell in love with brand strategy and found my way to Miami Ad School’s strategy portfolio program. Before joining Champions I worked in both digital media strategy and content strategy.
What would you do if you could no longer do this work?
I would either work for the City of New York in urban planning or work in political organizing and consulting.
