Amazon Decolonizing Design

Amazon Design regularly hosts internal professional enrichment events. Among them is the annual Conflux Conference, which brings together creative leaders from around the world.

Conflux 2020 was about Decolonizing Design. The goal was to re-center the voices of Black, Latinx, and Native American designers in an industry historically dominated by a white male European perspective.

Every image, message and pattern is a tapestry of hexagons.

The polygon-based visual system swarms like bees to a hive to form a custom font for the conference. Names of some of the world’s leading designers, strategists and technologists are typeset in the unique typeface, before dispersing into a colorful medley of hexagons celebrating the diverse topics and complex ideas to be discussed at the two-day event.
