United Nations Global Compact Leaders Summit
Formed in 2000, The United Nations Global Compact is a United Nations pact to get businesses and firms worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies, and to report on their implementation.
Each year during the UN General Assembly, the Leaders Summit provides global sustainability leaders the tools, network, knowledge, and inspiration needed to scale the impact of private sector contributions to the 2030 Agenda.
In 2024, the UN Global Compact approached Champions to develop the Summit’s event identity.
Champions got to work, taking inspiration from the iconic display of the worlds flags that stand proudly in the entrance of the United Nation’s headquarters in New York City.
The flags of member and observer states
An image of unity and hope for the future.
The flags of the 193 Member States and two Observer States (the Holy See and the State of Palestine) hold a power to create connections across the globe.
Champions used the study of flag making (vexillography) to develop a suite of twenty-six graphics for the Leaders Summit. Each flag represents a letter of the Roman alphabet.
Leadership Summit flags function as abstract graphics or literal letters for display signage and branding.
A full spectrum of colorways
A monotone palette allows for a moment of calm.
Modular in construction, the flags can be combined and stretched to adapt to any size needed for wayfinding, stage graphics, motion, and more.
Flag modules can be used as abstract letters in a limited set, or extended into a dense pattern.
Dynamic application
The flags can be used as abstract letters in a limited set or extended into a pattern.
The General Assembly is a yearly event for multilateral discussion and debate on international issues and the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit is a critical moment around the session.
The identity system brings the United Nations Plaza into the event space, then heightens the moment on the epic presentation screens.
