History.org The Nation’s Essential U.S. History and Civics Site

History.org is a collaborative digital education initiative for the nation’s 250th anniversary, and is poised to be the essential U.S. history and civics curriculum resource for educators and students.

In collaboration with Colonial Williamsburg and a number of other partner organizations, History.org will be a one-stop shop for high quality, engaging educational assets from the most trusted history and civics institutions in the country.

Champions worked with History.org to develop a brand that can support teachers, meet diverse learners’ needs, and inspire students to explore history and civics.

The work that History.org does will ultimately aim to build a thriving, engaged citizenry that is recommitted to American democracy in the lead-up to the 2026 anniversary and well beyond.

Distinct from other civics and education brands, History.org owns the dot. Saying the punctuation out loud is a unique brand identifier and provides a visual hook for the design system.

The colorful dots are the defining moments in the wordmark and speak to History.org’s diverse collection of resources. Through animation, the dots are able to come to life and inject personality into the brand.

Through color blocking and image cropping, there are an infinite number of ways to arrange content in a simple, engaging manner that can appeal to students of all grade levels.

The design toolkit is flexible and able to be implemented in PowerPoint and Google Slides, empowering educators and History.org users to create their own unique configurations.

The History.org brand colors tie in closely with the vast collection of custom video content developed by Makematic. The two-tone approach allows for a range of color combinations and can be chosen to appropriately reflect the subject matter at hand.
